How to get rid of termites? The first step in eliminating termites is to Request a Free Inspection and identifying the type you have.
There are three termite types to worry about in the United States. Knowing which type helps you know where to look for these costly insects. Subterranean termites are the most common in the United States, and are the type that build colonies underground. The drywood termite colonizes in wood above ground and don’t need contact with soil to survive. The dampwood termite lives in damp and decaying wood, and are the largest in physical size.
Termites are social insects and live in colonies with specific roles. Just like ants, there are workers, soldiers, reproductives and queens. As a colony matures, it can release winged termites or “swarmers”. If they survive, winged termites will settle, shed their wings and develop new colonies.
